Hi! James and Mai here – thanks for visiting our Sample Wedding Speech blog. Just like you, probably, we both found the thought of writing and making our wedding speech quite nerve wracking!

So we started searching the internet for wedding speech ideas.

Obviously there’s quite a few example wedding speeches around – the first problem is, quite honestly, finding the right one for you.

Click Here to see how we found exactly what we were looking for…

Of course, you want the best sample wedding speech available. But you’ve got to question the quality of a free wedding speech – and when you’ve hardly given a speech in your life, like us, how do you know what’s good and what’s not?

The second problem, if you do find one you like, is knowing how to personalise it. You want your speech on the big day to be perfect – and if it doesn’t sound sincere, both you and the guests will know you didn’t write it. All your wedding party are individuals, with their own stories to tell – some cookie-cutter example wedding speech or template just isn’t going to do for you, is it?

So you need some quotes, jokes and anecdotes to sprinkle in, to help personalise YOUR wedding speech. Next problem – finding the right ones!

We found all this out the hard way. We spent hours trawling through the free stuff – I even got my Best Man John involved – he was desperate for a Best Man sample speech – he was terrified of messing up!

Finally we found the answer we were looking for – inexpensive, professionally written and inspirational Sample Wedding Speeches and Toasts… for the Bride, Mother & Father of the Bride, Groom, Best Man, AND the Maid of Honor.

See, all those speeches are quite different – and you really need solid advice as to which elements fit best into each one.

And once you’ve got it written – you need to know the best way to deliver it. Well, we got not one sample wedding speech, but 20 – along with piles of toasts, quotes, and jokes. So writing the perfect wedding speech simply wasn’t a problem any more! And then… we got all the pro’s tips and tricks for giving the best possible performance. Oh boy – was that a relief – and of course, ALL the guests were impressed :-)

Click Here to see why we were so happy with what we found…

The Bride’s father first proposes a toast to the Bride and Groom.
The Bride’s Father’s speech continues, giving an insight into his daughter’s life.
The Mother of the Bride speech follows.
The Groom will then respond on behalf of his wife and himself. He usually uses this opportunity to say ‘My wife and I’ for the first time. This is usually followed by a round of applause from the guests.
The Groom thanks all those involved in the organising of the wedding.
The Groom may wish to present his and the bride’s mother with bouquets.
The Groom thanks all his attendants and presents them with his gifts.
The Groom then speaks about his new wife.
The Groom then proposes a toast to the Bridesmaids.

When the Groom’s Speech is finished, the Bride may wish to speak, and thank her Bridesmaids and Maid of Honor.
The Maid of Honor’s speech follows.
The Best Man responds on behalf of the Bridesmaids.
The Best Man then announces any messages, telegrams or e-mails from absentees.
Then it’s finally time for the highlight (usually!) of the wedding speeches – the Best Man’s Speech where he talks about the Groom, usually including some amusing reflections and memories of the past.

Following the Best Man wedding speech and the cutting of the cake, it’s time for the first dance. Traditionally the Groom will invite the Bride’s mother to dance, then the Bride’s father takes over, allowing the Groom to dance with his new Bride for the first time!
